4.0 out of 5 stars Universal truths for all ages: Taming the Dragon, May 30, 2008

By  Robert J. Mignone (sarasota, fl.) – See all my reviews

Thoughtful girls and boys, men and women, all will relate to these universal themes of truth, love, and freedom from fear. Faith allows perseverence to work through mind-chatter and terror. The resultant freedom to look inward reveals truth and peace. Johnnie’s short, readable book makes good use of metaphors of a mythical journey. Bears, dragons, and elves combine with succient vivid prose to invite the fellow traveler to venture inward. The result is to foster enlightenment and health. Robert J. Mignone, M.D., F.A.P.A.

Across the miles Johnnie Calloway was nothing but a stranger to me. With word of mouth and a simple connection-we were brought together by his book “Taming of the Dragon.”-I admire Johnnie’s bravery and determination to put HIS tools to work for others. When you read Mr. Calloway’s book-you will walk away knowing you always have a friend and you are never alone.

This is a story of a journey – Johnnie Calloway, who up until his 30’s was defined by his fears, drugs, alchohol. It is in his triumph over these he writes this book -
We tend to blame our lives on others. Because of this person I couldn’t do this. Because of her I never had this. I hate that I cannot be -
Then…you come to a point where you must stop and look around and instead be still and hear the crystal clear Voice of God -
We hate because we fear – what we don’t understand – we try to stop.
Calloway says to listen to the voice that tells you that we are all the same – To bring in the Light and conquer the ‘dragons’ that hold you back, make you fear, make you hate, make you self-destruct.
Calloway eloquently writes poems, and sayings to emphasize that we control ourselves by overcoming our ‘dragons’ – and a peaceful life can proceed.

Are you looking for answers to create a more manageable life? Then this is the book for you. It is not one of those books that will weigh you down with information, but is concise and to the point. You’ll find yourself thinking about what you’ve read and picking it up again and again rather than storing it on a shelf. The information is important for all of us, because we all have dragons of one sort or another and are all searching for inner peace.

5.0 out of 5 stars Praise for Taming the Dragon, September 10, 2007

By  pam brooks “pam” (hickman county, ky) – See all my reviews

Have just finished Johnnie Calloway’s new book Taming the Dragon. Big things really can come in small packages! This is a thought-provoking glimpse of Johnnie’s heart and it is very evident he has been there and done that. For anyone with dragons of their own, this book would serve them well on their own road to wholeness. I will definitely be looking for Johnnie’s next project.

I have recently read Taming The Dragon by Johnnie Calloway, and enjoyed it immensely. I found the book to be concise, short (only about 50 pages), and an easy read. In just those few pages he has simplified the problem, and made clear the solution. An asset to anyone struggling with their own dragon. I highly recommend it.

TESTIMONIALS:

I have known my friend, Johnnie Calloway for many years.  He has shared with me his friendship, his inspiration, and his “keep it real” brand of wisdom.  More than once, his friendship has spelled the difference between my peace of mind and my own discouragement.  To say that Johnnie has a “lot to offer” his friends and readers would be grossly inadequate in describing his courage and quest.

Please read his book and his blog posts. You will find a measure of solace and peace that will inspire you; as, I have been inspired. Gary Mousseau
